Text Box: “Many Buck skinners like to add comfort to their camp by using a woodstove in their tent. I’ve used them in wall tents and marques. Stoves certainly make it more like home in cold weather camps. If you are interested in a portable camp use, the best I’ve seen are made by Don Kevilus , sold by Four Dog Stove. They sent one down for my appraisal, and I’m impressed.”

“Until Don Kevilus at Four Dog Stove Co. entered the light trail stove market, snowshoers, dog-sledders, fringe season canoeists, and other in the bush had to sleuth out few available sources in Canada, or go to the trouble & expense of fabricating their own. With Don now producing the Artic Light Models several truly superior stoves are readily available. The Arctic lights achieve a balance between lightness and sturdiness. Lightness is required for portability, yet a certain sturdiness is favors longevity. The stoves we have used have stood up to hard nomadic use on guided snowshoe and toboggan trips, semi-permanent camps while staying with Native Labradoreans, and early and late season canoeing. Expertly crafted with infinite attention to detail, you simply will not find a better stove.”

“Living in temporary structures and tents. You can find folding , tin stoves for such places. In the hands of inexperienced wood-burners, though these can over heat and burn through or collapse. A better choice in our view-and one that can moved inside to heat and cook indefinitely-are the welded-steel stoves from Don Kevilus of Four Dog Stove Co. in St. Francis , MN. Patterned on the Jotul box stove the Four Dog model and smaller Three– and Two-Dog littermates are made of 3/32 hot-rolled steel, airtight gasketed door with a secure latch, & a heat retaining/spark arresting smoke baffle in the firebox. Beautifully made with elegant welds and priced well under $ 200 (a bargain), they can be ordered with removable side shelves, stainless steel water jacket, side oven for baking and telescoping stove pipe for easy portability. Legs easily removed but stay in when attached. Mine sports an optional removable cook lid for quick-cooking heat.”
