Text Box: CREDO by Mors Kochanski
The bush is neutral. It is neither for nor against me. My comfort depends on what I can do for myself and how much I know about using the bush materials around me.
Becoming angry, depressed or unhappy does little to help me in my situation. I will try to think positive thoughts and find ways to be thankful for what I have. When I am not sure of what to do I will stop, relax and think out the situation before I act.
I realize moving about when I do not know where I’m going will make it more difficult for others to find me.
My concern at this moment is to make myself comfortable for tonight. I shall shelter myself from wind, rain or snow and build a fire to warm up.
I will not let fear or panic rule my mind as this only works against me. The bush is inert. It is incapable of doing me harm.

Text Box: Over the years I’ve had a lot people ask where can I go and learn how to camp in the wilderness ? How can I get those skills ? How can I go and not just survive but thrive ?Where can I learn fire craft ?, How do I use an axe, saw and knife ?How can I go and in joy a night in the woods at 40– below ?
Well over the years I’ve seen a lot of books and meet a lot of folks. Some where ok some where really good but none where what I could call really rounded in there skills and able to pass that on to a novice or someone that had skills but where looking for more, or if they where really skilled they where unable to pass it on. They know how and what to do but the couldn’t tell or show you how, they just knew how.
Back in 1988 I got a copy of “Northern Bush Craft” by Mors Kochanski. When I first looked through it saw things I had learned from old timers and there was things that I’d never seen or tried before but made sense. I tried them, they worked. I tried some more they worked.
Text Box: Every thing I tried worked & not only that it worked really well !! I was hooked. A few years ago at a event where we where presenters I finely met Mors. He truly has to be one of the most gifted educators I’ve had the honor to meet.
He has the unique ability to convey he’s message and pass on he’s well honed skills to what ever the persons skill level or age, be it 6 years old or 60.
From a blue tenderfoot or old timer with life time of skills Mors can pass on something of value or show them maybe a better way to do it.
